The Holland Display Home

In 2020, SJD Homes sadly lost Kerry Holland, a cherished and extraordinary team member, to leukaemia. Kerry’s selflessness and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone she knew, as she tirelessly supported others.

In her honour, SJD Homes partnered with Cancer Council Victoria, donating a sum from each sale of the “Holland” floorplan to blood cancer research. To date, we have donated $16,000 to this cause, with an ongoing commitment to honour Kerry’s memory.

Victorian Homeless Fund

For families experiencing homelessness in Victoria, particularly women and children escaping family and domestic violence, a safe, stable home can be life-changing. Since 2018, SJD Homes has worked closely with the Victorian Homeless Fund to help make that possible.

Together, we raised $56,000 and delivered two new homes for families in need, supported by the state government, generous trades, and suppliers who donated materials and labour to keep costs accessible. These homes are havens of safety and security for those facing housing instability.

Our team has also fundraised through the Nike Melbourne Marathon (“Run for a Roof”, $10,000 raised) and our Company Director Simon Dunstan took part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, raising $40,000, surpassing their original $10,000 goal in the first week.

Miles for Myeloma

Myeloma Australia is a cause close to the heart of one of our team members. In 2024, the SJD Homes family rallied behind them, bringing together staff, family, friends, suppliers and partners to run as ‘Miles for Myeloma’ at the Nike Melbourne Marathon.

The group raised over $18,000 for Myeloma Australia’s research and treatment programs, a result that reflected the generosity and commitment of everyone who took part.

Homes for Homes

At SJD Homes, we believe building homes means more than laying bricks; it means shaping communities and supporting those in need. Homes for Homes is a program that puts that belief into action.

Through Homes for Homes, 0.1% of every home’s sale price is pledged toward social and affordable housing. We’ve already donated close to $100,000 through this program, and our clients can register their own home so the pledge carries forward with every future sale.

Women’s Property Initiatives

For women and families escaping domestic violence, safe and stable housing is critical. Women’s Property Initiatives works to provide exactly that, and SJD Homes has been proud to build alongside them.

Over the years, we and our suppliers have delivered multiple homes, each handed over fully furnished. We have also built a number of townhomes across Melbourne’s South East, providing long-term affordable housing for women and their families.

One Foot Forward Challenge by Black Dog Institute

Mental health is something our team takes seriously. In 2020, SJD Homes staff stepped up for the One Foot Forward Challenge, each committing to walk 100km over the course of the campaign to raise awareness and funds for mental health.

Together, the team raised $18,311 in support of the Black Dog Institute’s vital research and awareness work, a result made possible by the collective effort of the whole SJD Homes family.

Red Cross Blood Donation

Blood donation is one of the simplest ways to save a life, yet it is easy to put off. Since 2015, SJD Homes has made it a quarterly team activity, removing the friction by doing it together.

By making it collective and consistent, we have turned good intentions into ongoing, life-saving action, year after year.

COMMUNITY

BK 2 Basics Christmas Fund

BK 2 Basics supports vulnerable families in our local community, and since 2019, SJD Homes has been a proud annual contributor to their Christmas appeal, donating food and gifts to families who might otherwise miss out on the season.

Over the years, we’ve contributed approximately 80 gifts, a small gesture that makes a meaningful difference to families doing it tough.

Relay For Life

Relay For Life is one of Cancer Council’s most significant fundraising events, and in 2017, the SJD Homes team showed up in force, taking part in the relay, sponsoring each other, and attending fundraising events throughout the campaign.

Together, the team raised $15,000 for cancer research and support services.

Cardinia Community Foundation

The Cardinia Foundation Ltd is a philanthropic community foundation, raising funds for local community groups in the Cardinia Shire, with funds dispersed through an annual grants program.

The foundation aims to support the social, community and general welfare of those living in Cardinia Shire. The foundation provides grants to projects that support the growing needs of its communities, now and into the future.

Since 2024, SJD Homes has been a proud Cornerstone Partner of the Foundation.
