Housing the Homeless
On 23rd February 2019, SJD held the Housing the Homeless Gala Fundraiser Night. We’d like to say a massive thank you to all who attended the night and helped make it so successful. The final numbers are in and with your support, and the extreme generosity of all those who donated prizes, the night raised an incredible $53,460! The money is being presented to The Victorian Housing Fund to also go towards the construction of the two homes that SJD Homes are building to benefit women and children escaping domestic violence.
On April 2nd, the Ashwood house (the first of the two houses constructed for this cause) was officially opened by Hon. Richard Wynne. Chair of the Victorian Housing Fund, Colleen May, says “The entire team at the Vic Housing Fund is continually humbled by the overwhelming generosity & support of organisations such as SJD Homes and the extensive group of donors, suppliers and trades who have made this project possible”. She says the Vic Housing Fund’s mission (with the support of the HIA) is to “build a house and give away a home”. On the day the keys were handed over to Women’s Property Initiatives, who have already provided this gorgeous home to a mum and children in need. Thank you again to everyone involved in this project. You have made a difference and helped change a family’s life for the better.
The second house that SJD Homes are building for ‘Housing the Homeless’ will also begin this year.
